Filipino (Pilipino,菲律宾语), based on Tagalog, is the national language of the Philippines. For many years, the national language was known as Pilipino. But in 1989, by the act of the Philippine Congress, "Pilipino" was changed to "Filipino."
Filipino or Tagalog is the widely used among the 87 languages of the Filipino people, including the so-called cultural minorities. Basically, Filipino or Tagalog is the predominant language in Luzon, which includes the provinces of Bulacan, Laguna, Batangas, Cavite, and Nueva Ecija.china3view
The major languages in the Philippines, besides Tagalog, include Cebuana, Visayan (Bisayan), Ilocano (Ilokano), Bicolano (Bikolano), Kapampangan, Pangasinan, and Ilonggo/Hiligaynon.china3view
